Wedding Inspiration: All The Highlights Of #DeepVeerKiShaadi

With B-town’s favourite couple DeepVeer aka Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tying the knot in Italy first in a Konkani ceremony, followed by an Anand Karaj the next day, fans have been going berserk. However, owing to their ‘Strictly Private’ policy for their wedding (where even guests were requested to not put up pictures of the celebrations on their social media handles) fans of the couple had not been treated to images of the married couple, except for a few paparazzi shots. In fact, the security arrangements were so tight that they could be compared with the best of world leaders.

The charming couple shared the first picture of their marriage online sending fans into a tizzy and as expected, the duo looks gorgeous, both dressed in Sabyasachi outfits.

Here’s a breakdown of all the special moments of #DeepVeerKiShaddi right from the time the invite was out!

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh took to Instagram to share the dates with her fans via a post penned in both Hindi and English (very thoughtful!) Both Ranveer and Deepika thanked their fans for the love and support they’ve been showered upon.

All guests had to present a special wristband while security guards were said to have covered up the camera lenses on mobile phones with stickers. The e-invite also came with a QR code to be scanned at the entry. On the lake itself, there were numerous security boats patrolling to deter snooping photographers.

Deepika Padukone’s stylist Shaleen Nathani shared images of the Padukone family performing the Nandi Puja in Bangalore, and of course, we went gaga over how resplendent Deepika looked in an orange Sabysachi salwar kameez.

The couple also visited all their near and dear ones including Shah Rukh Khan, Farah Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, before leaving for Italian shores in color-coordinated outfits, posing merrily for the photographers, with Ranveer being the usual goofball.

The couple dressed in Sabyasachi and looked right out of a fairytale. For the Konkani wedding, Deepika was dressed in a golden saree with shades of orange and red by Sabyasachi. Heavy ornaments, a maath patti, dangling jhumkas, and a silk veil completed the look for the day. A dark smoky eye makeup with nude lips, Deepika looked lovely in her finery. Ranveer donned a white traditional white kurta with golden border with a dhoti for the first day.

For the Sindhi wedding, he dressed Deepika in a red and gold lehenga with an embroidered gold veil. She also wore a maang tikka, a huge nathani with the classic chuda with customised kaliras. Ranveer was decked in red sherwani that had gold motif and a leheria safa. He also was seen wearing a neckpiece of polki with emeralds.

Their wedding planner is Vandana Mohan, the owner of the Wedding Design Company. She is known for her lavish OTT weddings and knows exactly how to style the decor for the venue. The Wedding Filmer has been chosen to take photographs for the wedding.

The duo has also signed deals with the chefs bounding them into a contract. They are not allowed to prepare the dishes made at their wedding ever again. Exclusive menus! But if that’s not crazy enough, it is rumored that the couple will be having Versace cutlery for the wedding party. VERSACE!

For the ceremony on the 14th, South Indian dishes were served while the second day had Punjabi dishes. Switzerland chefs created delicious desserts and the wedding cake for the wedding. South Indian Chef was also brought in from Karnataka for the DeepVeer wedding on 14th to prepare authentic south Indian dishes.

The wedding was held at Lake Como, Italy with its picturesque location and backdrop. Here are some pictures from the location.

Mehendi Ceremony

Deepika Padukone even teared up at her Mehendi ceremony, where Shubha Mudgal was performing a thumri; Ranveer playing the perfect beau giving her a tight hug and consoling her. It was held at Resort Casta Diva at Italy’s Lake Como.

Ranveer Singh’s stylist Nitasha Gaurav, who is among the lucky few to be present at the venue, tweeted how it was a beautiful sight to see Ranveer and Deepika together, and lamented that pictures could not be posted. She wrote, ‘No pictures but it was love personified to see them together today. Couldn’t stop my tears, but these were tears of happiness and so I hope they never do. #DeepVeerKiShaadi

 Sangeet Ceremony

The couple obsessed with keeping their wedding private that the couple requested singer Harshdeep Kaur to delete a picture that she had uploaded after the Mehendi ceremony of herself and her husband posing against the beautiful backdrop of the lake. Harshdeep posted the pic and wrote: “what a beautiful day.

Even singer Sanjoy Das had to delete his tweet wherein he announced his arrival in Italy. He had written: “We have reached Milan for a very special occasion of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. I am performing with Harshdeep Kaur along with Bobby Pathak and Firoz Khan.”

While the Mehendi and sangeet ceremonies took place at the ultra-luxurious CastaDiva Resort overlooking Lake Como, the Konkani wedding ceremony yesterday took place at the even more glamorous Villa d’ Este about 5 kilometres away. We also came across an unseen picture from the ceremony where Deepika looks gorgeous in a pink saree and heavy earrings.

From whatever little paparazzi pictures we got to see yesterday, white and gold seemed to be the ruling theme, with guests dressed in hues of white and gold. The decor too was done in keeping with the white and gold theme. Expectedly, we got to see a whole lot of flowers and candles adorn the venue.

A makeshift Gurudwara was set up at the Villa Del Balbianello and a priest flown from Amritsar for the ceremony.

Here are the first pictures that both shared on their Instagram last night.

The couple has been sending out thank you gifts in the form of sweets to their family and friends.

Director-choreographer Farah Khan Kunder also gifted the couple on the happy occasion. The director who introduced Deepika Padukone to Bollywood with her film ‘Om Shanti Om’ gifted them a life impression of their hands, created by premier life cast artist Bhavna Jasra, when they went to meet her before leaving for Italy.

This is what Bhavna had to share about this opportunity. “My heart skipped a beat when she mentioned that she wanted me to make the most special gift for Deepika & Ranveer for their wedding. Directing these most loved actors how to put their hands together to make a tight clasp turned out to be not only their most cherished moment but mine too! Giving them a warm hug while they smiled heartily & posed for pictures with their hands clasped tightly in my clay, I wish time stood still. This will certainly be one of my most cherished impressions taken! Deepika & Ranveer, I wish you love & togetherness forever & ever & am exhilarated to make this symbol of your everlasting love for you on your special day as you begin your journey as man & wife!”

While the Italian wedding was attended by immediate friends and family, the couple is likely to host a couple of parties, both in Mumbai and in Bangalore, for their friends and family. We wonder how innovative and stunning will they look at the upcoming receptions in Mumbai on November 21at Grand Hyatt and at Bangalore on November 28 at The Leela Palace.

We wish this couple a wonderful journey ahead, while we wait for more pictures to emerge, so we can feast our fasting eyes.
