4 Unique Ways To Eat Pani Puri

Have you ever tried pani puri with a twist of chocolate and fruits? Well, we assure that you will fall in love with pani puris all over again. Try these four delicious pani puris which are loaded with amazing flavour!

Chocolate Pani Puri


–12 puris

–1/2 cup roughly chopped dark chocolate

–2 tbsp colourful sprinkles

–1/4 cup chopped walnuts (akhrot)

For The Chocolate Milkshake

1/4 cup roughly chopped dark chocolate

–3/4 cup chilled milk

–2 1/2 tbsp chocolate ice-cream

–1 tbsp sugar

–2 tbsp cocoa powder


For the chocolate milkshake: Combine the chocolate and 2 tbsp of milk in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave, mix gently till you find zero lumps. Combine all the ingredients in a mixer and blend till smooth. Transfer it into a deep bowl and keep aside. Divide the milkshake in 12 equal shot glasses and keep aside.

Procedure: Put the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for one minute, mix well till there are no lumps. Dip each puri in the melted chocolate, and coat the puri well from all sides, remove it with the help of a fork and place it on foil. Sprinkle few sprinklers over it, and refrigerate for 30 minutes or till set. Once set, break each puri from the centre, put few walnuts in each puri. Just before serving, place each puri over shot glasses and serve immediately.

Thai Pani Puri with mixed vegetables in coconut sauce 


–30 readymade puris

–1/4 cup coconut milk powder

–1 1/4 cups milk

1 tbsp cornflour

–3 cups finely chopped mixed vegetables (onions, cabbage, carrot, capsicum and babycorn)

–1 1/2 tbsp finely chipped green chillies

–1 tbsp ginger (adrak) paste

–1 tbsp garlic (lehsum) paste

–salt to taste

–1/4 cup finely chopped spring onions whites and greens

Method: Combine milk, coconut milk powder and cornflour in a deep bowl and mix well using a whisk till no lumps are found. And keep it aside to rest. Heat the butter in a broad non-stick pan, add the mixed vegetables and saute on a medium flame for 5 minutes. Add the green chillies, ginger paste and garlic paste and saute on a medium flame for 1 minute. Add the coconut milk powder-cornflour mixture and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for two minutes, while stirring continuously. Keep the stuffing aside to cool slightly. Just before serving, re-heat the stuffing till warm. Make a hole in the centre of each puri using your thumb. Fill each puri with approx. 2 tsp of the stuffing and garnish with little spring onions. Serve immediately.

Fruity Pani Puri


To Be Mixed Together For The Pani
1 cup ready made chilled orange juice

–1 cup ready made chilled apple juice

–2 tbsp finely chopped mint leaves (phudina)

–1/4 tbsp black salt (sanchal)

–1/4 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder

–1/2 tbsp chaat masala

–1/2 tbsp pani puri masala

–salt to taste

Other Ingredients

–20 puris

–1/2 cup finely chopped apples (unpeeled)

–1/2 cup pomegranate (anar)

–1 tbsp chaat masala

–salt to taste

Method: Combine the apples, pomegranate, chaat masala and salt in a deep bowl and mix well. Keep aside. Crack a small hole in the centre of each puris. Put a little of the apple-pomegranate mixture in each puri.  Serve little of the pani in each shot glass and stuffed puri on it. Serve immediately.

Jhat Pani Puri


–20 to 25 puris

–5 cups fresh black grapes juice

–1 cup chopped mint leaves

–3 green chillies

–1/4 cup chopped coriander (dhania)

–1 1/2 tbsp tamarind (imli) pulp

–1/2 tbsp black salt (sanchal)

–1/4 tbsp chilli powder

For Filling The Puris

1 cup sprouted moong(whole green gram)

–1/2 cup boiled green peas

–1/4 cup chopped onions (optional)

Method: Clean all the greens (with chilli) and make a fine paste using sufficient quantity of water. Mix together black grape juice, ground paste, tamarind pulp, black salt, salt and red chilli powder. Fill each puri with green peas/moong, and onions. Then fill it up with the ‘pani’. Relish the unique pani puri.
