Traditional South Indian Snack: Thattai Vadai

No need to buy from the readymade snacks market anymore. Now you can enjoy the popular South Indian snack – Thattai Vadai at home. This crispy snack is as easier to make as it is to eat. Try this new snack which is going to be everybody’s favourite dish.

Ingredients:
2 cups of rice flour
2 tbsp of urad dal (fry and grind to cool)
1 tbsp Besan
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1 tsp red chilli powder
1-1 tablespoon urad dal, gram dal and sesame seeds
2 tbsp butter
Salt to taste
Oil to fry

Method:

Soak gram dal and urad dal for 1 hour. In a second bowl mix rice flour, urad dal flour, gram flour, asafetida, salt, red chilli powder, melted butter, sesame seeds and soaked dal. Dip soft dough by adding water as needed. Cover with a cloth for 15-20 minutes.
Make a medium size of balls with a little dough and make them aside. Take little dough and make small balls. Put a ball in a zipper-lock bag and make puris out of it. Heat the oil in the pan till these puris turn golden and crisp.

Note:

You can also add curry leaves and 2 tablespoons grated coconut for extra taste.
