Soap Vs Face Wash: Here’s The Clear Winner

Possibly one of the biggest beauty questions of all time – Should you soap your face or not? Let’s answer this dilemma today. While we have a wide range of soaps for our body and even specialized soaps for specific parts of our body, there are limited facial soaps. And even when they are marketed as facial soaps, they don’t help our faces in any way. So are soaps or good or bad for your skin, and what is the better option? Read on below to know more.

To Soap V/S Not To Soap

Your face is already extremely sensitive than the rest of your body. Since the thickness of the skin varies all across our bodies, you need to take care of your face even more. Using gentle products on your facial skin is key in looking fresh and glowing.

Our faces tend to have a lot of pores and when we don’t take care of our skin it ends up in acne, pimples, and blemishes. Our facial skin produces its own natural oils to keep out the harmful environmental and polluting factors.

Soaps, in general, are made to wash away dirt as well as body oils. All skin is usually acidic and should maintain a pH level of 5-5.5. So what happens when an alkaline soap bar is used on your face? It dries out your face and discards all the moisture from your skin. If you use a bar of soap on your face, it’ll get itchy and flaky, peeling away at a touch. A dry face will also start to break out more because of lack of moisture and cracking skin.

Soap V/S Facewash

Facewashes are a much better option instead of a soap. They help maintain your skin’s pH levels while still wiping away all the dirt and grime. Facewashes also don’t strip away your natural oils leaving your skin unmoisturised.

It’s best to pick your facewashes based on your skin type and what it needs. For extremely oily skin pick up an oil-free facewash that rids of excess oil while working on keeping your skin healthy as well.

People with dry skin should opt for a sulfate-free face wash that will rejuvenate your skin and lock the moisture in. For sensitive skin, choose a natural base facewash that will soothe your turn and still keep it moisturized at the same time.

At the end of the day, staying hydrated and maintaining a healthy diet will also aid in looking fresh and staying healthy.
