Myth #1: Stress Lowers Libido

Fact: Stress impacts your sex life for sure but it isn’t to blame for your libido. Other factors like stressful lifestyles, poor health, untimely eating schedules, bad habits such as smoking and drinking, etc are equally responsible for the lack of sexual interest. Communication about your sex life or lack thereof will help you regain your lost interest and understand what is going between you and your partner.

Myth # 2: Hormones Cause The Lack of Libido in Women

Fact: Boy, are you wrong! Research proves that women have a much strong libido than men. Poor mental health, undue pressure, miscommunication, improper sleeping and eating habits make women tired and causes a dip in their sexual interests. Women also tend to hideaway their emotions and thoughts about sex much more because of societal pressures and shaming so it can make them hesitant to share their preferences and views on better sex.

Myth # 3: Use Medication / Drugs To Boost Your Libido

Fact: They don’t. If anything recreational drugs make you clumsy, unfocused and overall a mess in bed. Prescribed medication to increase your sex life should be your last resort and not a daily prescription. Low libido could be due to many other reasons which can be dealt with before extreme medication. It could be due to a mental block, health issues or personal trauma from past experiences that affect your sexual libido. Understanding, communication, and patience will help in solving this issue without needing medication that can have side effects on your health.

Myth #4: Drunk Sex Will Increase Your Libido

Fact: Drunk sex might seem all that great in the movies and books, but in actual life, it could end up in unfinished orgasms, clumsiness, forgetting protection, hangovers, and just basically a mess the next morning to clean up along with yourself. Drinking a glass of wine or a sip of alcohol before sex to elevate your senses and the romantic mood is decent. But don’t get drunk off your face, that you end up falling asleep before the sex even begins. Alcohol also slows down your body and makes it more sluggish, thus making it feel like forever to get your libido up. Go easy on the wine before sex and you’ll notice the difference.

Myth #5: Women Don’t Fantasize Hence Have Low Libido

Fact: Women reasonably have more fantasises than men! Yes, you read that right! Women actually have plenty of fantasies, preferences and erotic thoughts and dreams that may or may not always be fulfilled. How else do you think erotic fiction is such a popular genre? Unless there is open communication, you won’t genuinely enjoy the sex since she isn’t truly enjoying it but just compromising with it for you. That’s extremely unfair to her! Always take into account what your partner likes in bed and that will help keep the flame alive.
