You might have had a good year, a bad one, or a mixed one at that. But if there was one thing the year 2017 was full of, it was in the number of celebrities who got married this year. Right from Bollywood stars, to cricketers, to telly stars, we saw a bevy of celebrities take wedding vows. Beautiful people, gorgeous locales, and designer clothes, every wedding was an affair to remember. While some chose to go all out with their wedding preps, others preferred to keep it under the covers unless the proceedings were done with.
Here’s looking back at some of the most celebrated weddings this year.
Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli
This was clearly the wedding of the year. Over the last few weeks, we have almost breathed, eaten and slept the Virushka wedding, obsessing over every little detail that emerged. The couple who tied the knot in a fiercely private ceremony in Italy’s Tuscany, held two receptions for their family and friends in India, one on December 21 in Delhi (which had the PM of India in attendance) and one on December 26 in Mumbai, which saw a star shower of sorts.
Zaheer Khan-Sagarika Ghatge
The cricketer-actress couple who got engaged earlier this year in May 2017, tied the knot this November 23 in Mumbai. The couple opted for a simple court marriage, but followed it up with not one but several back-to-back parties, that included a cocktail night, a dance night and finally a grand reception at The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, in Mumbai.
Amrita Puri-Imrun Sethi
Actress Amrita Puri, who was last seen in the serial .tied the knot with her longtime restaurateur beau Imrun Sethi in a very intimate yet lavish destination wedding in Bangkok. The colour of her bridal ensemble was in line with the floral pink theme which went by the tagline ‘Eat Drink Love’ as she walked under the pink roses to meet her bridegroom.
Bharti Singh-Harsh Limbachhaiya
Television’s much-loved couple Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa tied the knot on December 3, in a destination wedding in Goa. The duo also made a web series on their wedding and everything leading up to it. It was Bharti’s way of keeping her fans as close to her wedding proceedings.
Neil Nitin Mukesh-Rukmini
Neil Nitin Mukesh’s wedding with Rukmini took place against the gorgeous backdrop of Udaipur on February 9. The couple tied the knot as per traditional Hindu rituals in an intimate wedding ceremony and the ceremony was attended by family and close friends at a five-star hotel in the City of Lakes. The couple later threw a star-studded reception in Mumbai.
Aashka Goradia-Brent Goble
Television actress Aashka Goradia first tied the knot with Brent Goble in beautiful Christian wedding in Goa on December 1. Later, the actress got married again as per Hindu traditions on December 3 in Ahmedabad, the actress’ hometown. The close-knit wedding had a hand-picked guest list comprising close family members and friends and also Aashka’s industry colleagues.
Vatsal Seth-Ishita Dutta
Actors Vatsal Seth and Ishita Dutta tied the knot at the ISKON Temple in Juhu, Mumbai. The couple featured together in the TV show Rishton Ka Saudagar-Baazigar. Their wedding caught many by surprise with not many aware that the couple was seeing each other, The beautiful couple opting for a simple marriage with close friends and family.
Riya Sen-Shivam Tiwari
Actress Riya Sen tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Shivam Tiwari in a hush-hush ceremony on September 12. Riya looked resplendent as a Bengali bride in a red saree and her husband can also be seen dressed traditionally and sporting a topor.
