Padmavati To Be Finally Released This January, Renamed As ‘Padmavat’
After the long ongoing controversy behind Padmavati, finally some agreements have been made and the film is ready to be released on 25th January nationwide, except in Rajasthan. The movie has Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles who play Rani Padmini, Maharawal Ratan Singh and Alauddin Khilji respectively. The uproar against the film began when rumours started circulating that there was a love sequence between Rani Padmini and Ranveer’s character Alauddin Khilji.
However, the CBFC has made some major changes to the movie, including the change of the title ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmavat’.
What else has the censor board edited in the movie? Here’s the full list.
1) The board has asked the filmmakers to cover Deepika’s stomach in the song Ghoomar.
2) The word ‘Delhi’ has been eliminated. Bhansali has shown Padmini going to Delhi with 800 dolis for her Johar or Sati. The board has asked them to delete Delhi.
3) Usually, a film has one disclaimer but in Padmavat there will be two disclaimers. The board has asked to change it to just fiction. Also, there is another disclaimer which is added mentioning that the maker does not believe in nor endorses the practice of Sati.
After watching the film, the Karni Sena wanted an all-India ban. But, the CBFC agreed to the changes made by the Kapil Kumar.
