How To Make Lip-Smacking Chicken Kathi Roll At Home

Originating from the streets of Kolkata, Chicken Kathi Roll has found its way into the hearts of foodies all over the country. Kathi in its indigenous form is kebabs wrapped in flat bread. Many variations later it has evolved into chicken Kathi roll. An ideal appetizer for a party or even a picnic, make this easy and fuss-free snack by yourself!


  • 150 g refined flour
  • 50 ml oil
  • 100 ml water
  • One egg
  • One banana
  • Salt to taste

For the Filling

  • 5 g butter    
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 100 g boneless chicken
  • 50 g tomatoes
  • One capsicum, chopped
  • One onion, chopped
  • 10 g coriander powder
  • 10 g chili powder
  • 10 g cumin powder


  • Mix the refined flour with oil, salt, egg, and banana and knead the dough, adding water. Leave the dough aside
  • Prepare a roomali roti with the same dough. If you cannot make a roomali roti, just make a simple roti but as thin as possible
  • Prepare the filling. Place a portion of the filling on the roti and roll it out. Ensure that the filling is secured from all sides.
  • Heat the roti on a tawa, cut into pieces.

For the Filling

  • Heat the butter in a pan. Add garlic and sauté until golden.
  • Dice the chicken pieces and add them to the pan
  • Sauté for some time and add the vegetables and spices to it.
  • Allow it to cook for some time. Once done, remove it from the pan and keep aside.
  • serve hot with green chutney
