Chocolate is the best way to win someone’s heart and we know how kids go gaga over chocolate. So why don’t you make your kids happy with these simple chocolate recipes?!
1. CHOCOLATE ROLL
Ingredients: 500 g chocolate, 10 lt milk, 400 g sugar
Method: Boil five liters of milk to get, 1.5 kg mawa. Add sugar to it and set aside for cooling. Now, boil the remaining five liters milk separately to get 3 kg mawa, and cool it. Make layers of the chocolate and the cooked mawa. Roll it up and cut into pieces. Serve.
2. CHOCOLATE MUD PIE
Ingredients: For the base, 1½ cup refined flour, 75 g butter, 1 tsp salt, 2 tbsp granulated sugar, 4-5 tbsp ice water. For the filling : 85 g dark chocolate (minimum 70 per cent cocoa solid), 85 g butter, 2 eggs, 85 g brown sugar, 100 g double cream. For the fudge sauce, 150 g dark chocolate, 100 ml double cream, 3 tbsp golden syrup, 175 g icing sugar, sieved
Method: Preheat the oven to 180°C. Combine the flour, salt and sugar in a large bowl and stir briefly until the mixture is aerated. Break the butter into pea-size pieces and add to the flour. Drizzle in four tbsp of ice water and mix just until the dough comes together. (Add the last tbsp of ice water if necessary, but don’t overwork the dough or it’ll become hard.) Shape the dough into a flat disk, cover it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least
30 minutes, then use it in the pie. Press the mixture into the base and sides of a nine-inch cake tin. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes. For the filling, melt the chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. (Do not let the base of the bowl touch the water). Meanwhile, whisk the eggs and sugar together in a bowl for 5-6 minutes, or until thick and creamy. Fold in the cream and melted chocolate mixture. Pour this mixture into the chilled tin and bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes, or until just set. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool completely. Meanwhile, for the fudge sauce, heat all the ingredients in a saucepan, stirring regularly, over medium heat until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Set aside to cool for 20 minutes. Pipe the chocolate fudge sauce making peaks over the cooled pie and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes. Serve.
3. DREAMY CHOCOLATE ISLAND
Ingredients: For the chocolate sponge 20 eggs, 660 g sugar, 660 g dark chocolate, 660 g butter, 550 g flour, 2 tbsp baking powder. For the chocolate ganache: 400 ml heavy cream, 200 g dark chocolate
Method: Beat the eggs and sugar till the mixture raises a little. Melt the chocolate and butter together. Keep the mixture aside. Add the melted chocolate and butter in the beaten egg mixture. Mix slowly and carefully. Then add the flour and baking powder to the batter. Bake at 180°C for 30 minutes. Your chocolate sponge is ready. Keep aside. To prepare the chocolate ganache, boil the cream and add dark chocolate to it. Mix well till the chocolate gets dissolved. Remove from heat and allow it to cool. Cut the prepared chocolate sponge into three parts, layer each part with the chocolate ganache and then finally top it with a coat of ganache.
