Navratri is around the corner and it’s time a lot of people begin fasting. It doesn’t mean you starve, or compromise on taste. Here is a delicious recipe to try on fasting days.

For Danyachi Amti (Groundnut Curry):
- ¾ cup peanuts, roasted and skinned
- 1½ cups water
- 4 kokum
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 red chillies
- 1 tsp jaggery or sugar, grated
- 1 tsp ghee or oil
- salt to taste

For Danyachi Amti: Grind the peanuts to a coarse paste with 1 cup water. Heat the ghee. Add the cumin seeds and wait till they splutter. Add split red chillies and stir-fry for 10 seconds. Add kokum and ½ cup of water. Let the water simmer for 5 minutes. Add jaggery and mix well till the jaggery has dissolved. Add peanut paste and salt. Mix well. Bring to a gentle simmer and turn off the heat. Serve warm with sabudana khichdi or varayache tandul.
