The Label Ritu Kumar is known to present a captivating fashion story on the ramp which is why there is always a heightened level of excitement before a show. ‘Sweet Surrender’ was The Label Ritu Kumar’s title at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017. The inspiration moved back centuries into the past and halted at the 18th century French Marquis fashion era. Here The Label Ritu Kumar also added a deliberate dishabille look of the 80’s to bring about an apotheosis of the two eras where modern fashion and refinements were concerned.
The colours used were soft pastel hues with tropical prints like unconventional fruits, sorbet tones of peach and Prosecco appeared in perfect unison with canary yellow, as well as minty melons, which were then surprisingly interspersed with vibrant splashes of calico blue and red. Ritu Kumar’s statement shirtdresses were prominent on the ramp along with stylish asymmetric tops, some with an off-shoulder accent, while the cute trendy minis completed the look. Gentle romantic mood was set to the show as mesh stockings and the crochet cummerbunds were used as the prime accessories.
The highlight of the collection was the very stylish hairdos – a side swept cascade of curls over a chignon and bright red lips – all created by Lakmé Makeup expert Donald Simrock. Disha Patani, the exciting new Bollywood star looked sensous as she stopped the show in white shorts under a sheer, white, corset, asymmetric, will-power creation that shimmered with splashes of rose embroidery. Many women will readily rush for ‘Sweet Surrender’ by The Label Ritu Kumar when it comes to giving in to their fashionable desires.
Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week also saw many Bollywood celebrities at the show such as Manish Malhotra, Shabana Azmi, Mandira Bedi, Sanya Malhotra, Sonal Chauhan, Kalki Koechlin, Gulshan Devaiah, Mini Mathur, Jackky Bhagnani, Kiran Rao, Swara Bhaskar, Saiyami Kher, Sayani Gupta, Tisca Chopra and much more.
