Tell us about your regimen, how do you maintain your skin and body?
When we talk about regimen, I think it’s a combination of your lifestyle, your diet, regular exercise, sleeping adequately and taking care of your body which is necessary. It’s all about being confident, looking and feeling your best. So for me, it’s a combination of all of these.
Being a celebrity requires you to constantly multi-task. What keeps you on your feet?
Getting an adequate sleep of seven to eight hours every night is very important since you need to rejuvenate your body. You also need to start your day with a good nourishing breakfast. I think we all are so busy rushing from one place to another that we tend to skip and ignore the most important meal of the day which is breakfast.
Being a South Indian, breakfast is my most favourite meal of the day. Eating a balanced meal throughout the day, be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner, that suits your body, routine and schedule is also of utmost importance. Also, I make sure I drink enough water and exercise every day. I know a lot of people have no time to physically go to the gym or do yoga or do some sort of exercise but even simple things like walking to your workplace, if you are living nearby, or working on the sixth floor try taking stairs instead of lift. Doing simple things as a part of your lifestyle can help you be fit even in a busy routine.
How important is beauty in a woman’s life?
Beauty is important for most women I know in my life, but yes, it means different things to different people. For me, I think it’s about looking your best, about being confident. There are certain things that will make you feel confident and comfortable, there are certain things that make me feel confident and comfortable. May be wearing heels makes me feel good, may be wearing flats makes you feel good. Beauty is about being confident about being in your skin.
Since time unknown, Bollywood stars have been endorsing brands and different products. It is a known fact that when stars endorse a product, people tend to trust the product more and try it…
I feel that brands are an extension of my personality. Whenever I endorse a brand, I make sure that I identify with it and I believe in it. I mean there’s a reason why brands have been there in the market for so many years because it works for people.
The market today is full of options when it comes to cosmetics. How does one pick the right kind?
When it comes to products, try going in for products that are affordable but at the same time tested. You need to identify the products correctly-whether it’s your razor, sunscreen, perfume, night cream or whatever… The products will vary from person to person. As friends we often say, this product works for me… but eventually, some professional advice is a must for those with a particular skin type and for those who are prone to allergies.
Being an actress, have you ever felt that you are under constant pressure of looking beautiful, fresh and behave friendly?
It depends from individual to individual and everyone has a different way of handling it. I won’t say it’s a pressure really, but yes, the expectation to always look a certain way is a reality. For me, looks don’t really matter, if I look great, great, but even if I don’t look great, it’s okay. I feel it’s totally okay to have a great face, but not be your best all the time. You need to accept how you look and not be so hard on yourself.
Looking back at the success of xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, how does it feel?
I think results are extremely important for anything you have put your heart and soul into. For me it was a heartening experience and what touched me emotionally is how Indians praised the film. I think everyone embraced the film, how I spoke in the film and my performance was well received. It makes me feel very happy because to step out of your comfort zone and work in a territory you are absolutely unfamiliar with without knowing what the end results might be like is never easy. Now, I think it’s been a risk worth taking.
How important is change in a woman’s life?
Change for betterment is always great, it helps you rejuvenate and regenerate. Sometimes, it may be in the form of a detox, even the simplest of things such as cleaning my cupboard has helped me reinvent and restart. So, I think it is important to be in the present whereas it is equally important to think ahead.
