Dream Girl Hema Malini turns 69 today! Can you believe it? This south Indian beauty has been gracing the silver screen for 49 years and Bollywood is definitely incomplete without the multi-faceted Hema Malini. Apart from being a commercial actress for more than five decades, she is also a film-maker, producer, gracious dancer and a politician. From playing the talkative Basanti in Sholay to a loving wife Pooja in Baghban, this dancing diva made sure that she created magic, each time she appeared on screen.

1. Basanti (Sholay)

This character is so popular that it can have its own spin-off movie! It is the most entertaining character till date played by any actress in Bollywood. Talkative and pretty yet extremely notorious, Basanti’s character managed to win thousands of hearts. Her famous dialogue from Sholay,Yoon ki, yeh kaun bola?” grabbed a lot of attention.

2. Geeta (Seeta Aur Geeta)

This movie directed by Ramesh Sippy is a mixture of drama and comedy. Back then when actresses weren’t given meaty roles, Hema Malini managed to play a double role and it soon became a hit. Although we loved both the Seeta and Geeta equally, the latter one was more iconic as she was fierce and an all-rounder.

3. Champabai (Dream Girl)

Hema Malini played five different characters in the movie and it made her the rising star of Bollywood.Her cute chemistry with husband, Dharmendra, became a major hit and was loved by all. Since then, she has come to be called the dream girl of B-town.

4. Pooja Malhotra (Baghban)

Don’t we all love Hema Malini with Amitabh Bachchan together? Hema Malini showed that she can look beautiful even as an old mother and that her acting skills can never get old. She has been always successful in bringing tears in the eyes of the audiences and she did in this movie, too.

5.Indu R Anand (Satte pe Satta)

This movie had a long cast of successful stars including Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Pilgaonkar. Hema Malini was the best choice for the character of Indu that is a mix of love, anger, and support. Even though the film was about seven brothers, Hema Malini performance stood out and did not let her co-stars over-shadow her.
