Discoloration or staining of teeth is a gradual process and doesn’t happen overnight, and so is the damage reversal. Unlike cosmetic treatments, these remedies do not pose any danger to your health.
Coconut Oil Pulling
Oil pulling is an ancient Indian method. All you need to do is take a teaspoon of oil (preferably coconut oil) in your mouth and swish for nearly 5 minutes, to begin with. Baking soda is slightly abrasive in nature and effectively removes mild stains. Mix baking soda with some lemon juice to make a paste. You can use it with your finger or apply directly on a toothbrush. Since baking soda or sodium bicarbonate doesn’t contain fluoride, you must use your regular toothpaste too. Also, prolonged use of baking soda is not advisable as it can erode the top layer of enamel on your teeth.
Apple Cider Vinegar
For stubborn discoloration, you can rub the apple cider vinegar directly on your teeth, however, that can be more abrasive. You can also dilute it with water and swish it in your mouth for not just whiter teeth but also good oral health. Do not use it very often as it can erode tooth enamel.
