After all that binge eating on sweets and feasts, it’s time for your body to get a thorough cleanse. Shed all those extra kilos you gained over the festive season. Start on a post-Diwali detox right away to get back in shape. Here are 5 ways you can get healthy after all those festive treats.

Lemon / Lemon Water

Start your post-Diwali detox with lemons. A glass of lemon water acts as a good detoxifier and improves digestion. It creates more bile in your body to boost digestion. Lemons are a great alkaliser and flushed out toxins from your body. It prevents constipation and helps your digestive system to break down the food faster.

Honey

Honey, water and cinnamon detox is the best way to cleanse your body after the festive season. Boil the honey and cinnamon in water and let it cool down. Drink half of it before breakfast on an empty stomach and the other half post breakfast. Just honey water is also a good method to flush out toxins from your body.

Water

Just drinking plain water is the best way to boost your body and flush out toxins. Adding in fruits and veggies like cucumbers, mint leaves, or fresh fruits, lemon slices will help give the added benefits of both the water and other ingredients. Sipping on detox or infused water every hour or so will help your body digest food faster and clear toxins.

Green Tea Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup green tea, brewed and chilled
  • 1/2 cup spinach or mint leaves
  • 1/2 an apple or a pear
  • 1 tbsp yogurt
  • Ice as needed

Add everything into the blender and blend until it reaches a smoothie consistency. The antioxidants from the green tea help you along with the phytonutrients from the mint and spinach leaves for a detox. The apple and pears add some natural sweetness to your smoothie.

Exercise

All Diwali Detoxes include eating the right things, staying hydrated and plenty of exercises. Start with short exercises and slowly increase the pace and amount to help burn more fats and get back into shape. A thorough workout will help you shed all those extra kilos you picked up from binging on sweets and other delicious foods. You could dance, yoga, Zumba or join any other activity that counts as exercise to stay fit.
