  • Petroleum Jelly

We have all been amazed by the myriad uses of petroleum jelly, here is another one. If you are worried about your polish smudging and messing up your fingers, use a cotton swab and apply petroleum jelly to the skin around your nails first. This will create a barrier between your skin and the polish. So once you’re done, you can just wipe off the petroleum jelly and the extra polish with it.

  • Easy ways to dry

Waiting for nail polish to dry is super frustrating as it takes forever and you’re practically handicapped for the time being.  To dry your nails faster without making a mess, fill a bowl of ice water and dip your fingers inside it for about 3 minutes. The cold water will help the nail polish dry and set it without creating any bubbles. Another way of drying your nails faster is spraying them with hair spray or cooking spray and patiently waiting for it to dry.

  • Base Coats

This is the most important yet underrated step when it comes to applying nail paint. Base coats are essential because they prevent your polish from chipping and breaking and give it a even surface to adhere to. The best base coats to use are either clear nail polish or if your nail polish is opaque you can use white nail paint. Make sure you let this coat dry before applying the coloured nail polish.

  • Easy way to erase errors

If you made a mistake while applying your nail polish, don’t fret. Use this super handy hack which can be done in seconds. Take an old thin paintbrush or an eyeliner brush that you aren’t going to use and dip it in nail polish remover. Gently rub out the area around the error and paint over it. This is an all time preferred hack as allows you to correct almost any mistake.

  • Air bubbles

Sometimes nail polish bottles can be quite tricky to handle. Air bubbles are a nail polish bottle’s arch enemy, they ruin the polish and dry it up. To avoid formation of air bubbles, roll the bottles in your palms instead of shaking it before application. If your nail polish bottle refuses to open, place it upside down in a glass of hot water for a few seconds. This will loosen the lid faster without tampering with the polish.
