3 Simple Snack Recipes For The Ultimate Evening Party

Idli Chaat:


  • 1 cup Idli, left over
  • 1 tablespoon Idli Podi
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Hung Yogurt (Greek/ Thick Curd)
  • 1/4 cup Green chutney
  • 1/4 cup Date tamarind chutney
  • 1/2 cup Sev
  • 1/4 cup Coriander leaves (Dhania), finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Salt (Kala Namak)
  • 1 teaspoon Chaat Masala Powder
  • 1 Lemon juice

Method: To begin making the Idli Chaat, cut the regular size idlis into small round bite sized pieces. Rub a little chutney powder on both sides of the idli. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a shallow pan. Place the idlis on the pan and shallow fry for about 30 seconds from both the sides. Remove from pan and arrange it on a serving plate. Add about 1 teaspoon thick curd on each idli pieces and sprinkle finely chopped onions and sev on the top. Drizzle about 1 to 2 teaspoon of dhaniya pudina chutney and date tamarind chutney on top. Once it is done, add little finely chopped coriander leaves on the top. Sprinkle a little black salt and chaat masala powder on the chaat and squeeze a little lime juice on top.Serve this lip-smacking Idli Chaat as a party appetizer and surprise your guests with this unique chaat. You can even have it as a tea time snack with a hot cup of tea.

Omelette Bun:


Burger or any other buns: 4

Onions: 1, small (diced)
Chicken/pork salami: 2 pieces (chopped)
Eggs: 4
Boiled peas: Half cup
Salt and pepper: To taste
Mozzarella cheese (grated): Half cup

Method: Preheat oven at 175 degrees C. Gently whip the eggs with salt, pepper, onions, and salamis. Grate the cheese and set aside. Take the buns and scoop out a chunk from the middle of each of them. Now, pour the egg mixture into the holes. Sprinkle some cheese on top and put it in the oven. Bake for 10 minutes or till the cheese melts


Vegetable Macaroni:


Macaroni – 1 cup
Capsicum – 1
Cabbage – 1/2 cup (finely chopped)
Tomato – 2
Carrot – 2
Green chilly – 1 (finely chopped)
Tomato sauce – 3 to 4 tbsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Green coriander – 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Chaat masala – 1 tsp
Red chilly powder – less than 1/4 tsp
Salt – 1 tsp or as per taste
Ginger paste – 1 tsp

Method: Boil the macaroni, first. Take 2 to 3 cups of water in any utensil and place it on flame for heating. When water starts boiling add 1 tsp oil, 1/2 tsp salt and macaroni into it and cook for 10 to 12 minutes. Stir at regular intervals. Wash all the vegetables, capsicum, carrots, tomato and cabbage, thoroughly, pat dry and then chop them finely.Drain the water out of boiled macaroni. Preheat some oil in a pan. When oil is hot, add ginger paste, finely chopped green chilly and saute for while. Now add finely chopped carrot and capsicum and again saute for a while. When vegetables get crunchy, add cabbage and tomato into it and cook for another 2 minutes. Now add salt, chaat masala, red chilly powder and tomato sauce into it and mix well. Cook for few more minutes. Add macaroni and some green coriander into the masala. Stir for 1 minute and cook the macaroni with vegetables. Steaming hot veg macaroni is ready. Take it out in a plate and garnish with some green coriander. Serve this scrumptious macaroni and relish eating.
