May and October are known to be the hottest months in India. And when the heat waves attack, our constant and tedious attempts to keep the make-up from melting or sweating away seems like a mission impossible altogether! Therefore, we have listed 10 make-up must-dos that will not only keep your make-up on point but also will help you with your usual skincare routine in the hot sweaty October days.
Oil Control Face Wash
Oily skin attracts dust. Therefore, while opting for a face wash make sure it is an oil control one. It will wash out not only oil but also sticky dust off of your face. Pat dry your face afterward.
Ice, Pat, Tone
Our skin pores open up due to heat. After a thorough face wash, roll a couple of ice cubes all over your face. This will help the pores to shrink and will cool your skin down. This smoothens and tightens the skin. Pat your face with a towel so as to remove ice water. Immediately apply a suitable toner with a cotton ball. This will rejuvenate your skin and also retain its necessary moisture.
Block The Sun’s Rays
Whether October month or not, if it is sunny outside you better use a sunscreen! Since October are relatively humid, opt for a gel-based sunscreen. Gel-based products have lesser moisturising properties than that of the cream-based products.
Never Forget A Primer
To have a good base for your base make-up, you must use a good primer. Opt for an oil control primer. If icing and the toner have left any spots uncovered, a primer will do the job. It will help you achieve smoother application of base make-up.
Set With Setting Spray
After you are done with your base make-up, do not forget to set it with a setting spray so that it holds your make-up from sweating out, especially the foundation since it is the first product that is prone to sweat first. A generous amount of spraying will ensure that your base make-up does not crack.
Choose Powder Over Liquid
One most important make-up tip to face heat and humidity is opting for products such as eyeshadow, blush, highlighter, etc. that are not liquid or cream-based but powder-based ones. Powder-based products control oil and have no chance of melting away, or worse, greasing your face when you step outside.
Opting for waterproof kajal pencils, eyeliners, mascara, etc. is always the smartest option for make-up during such hot and humid days. Waterproof products are smudge-proof too, and they set perfectly for longer hours.
Line Your Lips
Due to sweat, lipsticks can melt away. Use a lipliner pencil or simply take a liner make-up brush, take a generous amount of your lip colour on it and outline your lips. Fill in with your lipstick and dab a very light coat of lipgloss so that your lipstick does not dry off in the callous weather. Mostly, go for matte or powder matte lip colours; they do not melt away easily as opposed to satin or creamy ones.
Loose Over Compact
Keep your compact powder aside for a month. Grab your make-up brush and dab a lightly hued loose face powder all over your face. Loose powder quickly absorbs oil on your face and gives it a subtle matte look.
Stock Oil Blotting Sheets
The biggest boon to the beauty industry would be that of the invention of oil blotting sheets/papers. How much ever we try to keep away from sweating, it is not going to happen. Preparation and being ready for the same is always advisable; so keep a good stock of oil blotting sheets handy. Just a few pats on the sweat-prone spots on your face will absorb all the sweat and oil and leave your face oil-free.
