Designer Harsh Gupta of the Harsh Harsh brand asserts, “Due to excessive heat, clothes tend to get absorbed by the sweat, so light-coloured trendy cotton clothes can be a good option here.” He insists that one should keep synthetic and black-coloured clothes away during the summer days. There are alternative fabric options that one should invest during summers—high-quality silk, linen, sheer fabric and eyelets—for your wardrobe.

Celebrated designer Nishka Lulla says, “Woven linen items are breathable and warm-weather friendly. They also look gorgeously relaxed in an unexpectedly sophisticated way.” However, the prime reason many avoid linen are their unruly creases that come even at the slightest of bend. On this, Nishka further states, “If you wear woven linen clothing, you have to be at peace with these creases and accept them as a part of the look. Creased linens are a big trend this season that works extremely well!”

Summer is all about fresh and light colours. This season, pastels and neutral tones are finding their way into the wardrobe. “White and soft pastels such as nudes, moss greens, sky blue and also metallic’s work pretty well this summer season,” affirms Nishka Lulla. Pastels are known to be a summer staple for many, as it minimises overheating in sunny and sweaty days. Besides, these colours bring a lot of freshness and lend a playful touch to your closet.
White is stylish
White looks timeless. It can be worn at any time of the day and exudes elegance and richness always. Choosing the correct shade of white is very important, opines designer Harsh Gupta. “To wear a white dress, one has to choose the right type according to the body! In general, the darker you are in skin tone, the darker the shade of white will best suit you. For instance, pale skin shades will look best in bright white shades, whereas dark skin will be better suited in off whites or creams.” White is not as simple looking as many think it to be. The beauty of wearing white is that you have a free rein when it comes to teaming it with colours. “Pair your white with a brightly coloured blazer, handbag, or shoes to draw attention. You can use white clothes with metallic, denims, neutral brown coloured fashion belts and patterned colour scarves to create your own fashion statement,” states Harsh.

Add-ons for your summer look
Teaming your outfit with the right kind of accessories can do wonders to your overall look. Although, one should avoid adorning the look with danglers and big jewellery in summer, little knick-knacks always look good. Nishka believes, “One should opt for fuss-free lightweight jewellery such as thin layered chains, lightweight earrings and studs to give an edgy look.”
